Byron Lamar Harbin, born July 19, 1952, of Roswell, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on September 10, 2026. Byron was a man of quiet strength, steady faith, and a warm, humble spirit. His life reflected dedication, compassion, and a deep love for family and community.
He retired from Kennesaw State University, where he was known for his reliability, kindness, and unwavering work ethic. Byron also found joy and purpose in his faith when he joined Zion Missionary Baptist Church in 2003. For twenty plus years, he served faithfully as a member of the choir, where his voice and presence enriched worship and touched the hearts of many. Byron shared his life with his life partner, Trish Gaines, whose love, support, and companionship were constants in his journey. Their bond was one of mutual care, laughter, and steadfast loyalty.
He is survived by his brother, Rev. Dr. Eugene M. Harbin, of Dacula, Georgia; his sons, Alejandro Green married to Karen of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Antonio Martin married to Mandy of Colbert, Georgia and his daughter Lacretia Harbin who is currently out of the country; his grandchildren—Christian Smith; Jerrell Barney; Devante Arnold; Cody Green; Tyler Green; Taylor Green; Jordan Green; Kayla Fuentes; Gabrielle Clemmons; and Noelle Martin—and 13 great‑grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyrus Harbin Sr. and Emma Harbin, his brother Cyrus Harbin Jr., and his sister‑in‑law Elaine Sweetpea Harbin.
Byron shared a heartfelt bond with his friend Gordon Harris, often called his Road Dawg/Guardian Angel who stood by him as a trusted friend and a brother in spirit. Byron Lamar Harbin’s life was one of faith, quiet impact, and genuine kindness. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love he gave, the family he cherished, and the legacy he built will continue to live on through all who knew him.
