David Lee Neal was born on July 28, 1935, to the late Cliff and Nobie Vandiver Neal. He was the youngest of five children, all of whom—Clifford Wilson, Margaret Baldez, Evelyn Neal, and James Neal, Sr.—preceded him in death.
David graduated from Whitman Street High School and spent his life serving others through his work as a licensed funeral director at Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home. He was known for his dedication to helping families during their time of need.
In addition to his professional work, David was active in his community. He often attended City Commissioner meetings, speaking out for fairness and equal rights. He cared deeply about making his community a better place.
David was also a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Burton Neal and daughter, Darlene Clark. He leaves behind his grandson, Kassim Mincy (Angela); great-grandchildren, Jordan and Justin Mincy; nephews, Vern Wilson Sr. (Lorene), James Neal, Jr. (Inger), and Anthony Neal (Zella); nieces, Janice Allen (Enoch) and Yvette Green (C.L.); and a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
A special thanks to his devoted caretakers and close friends: Laura Ann Scott, Larry Mayfield, Jan Boyd, and Trish Gaines. Your love, support, and friendship meant so much to David and his family.
He will be remembered for his kindness, service, and strong voice in the community. David touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
