Mrs. Katie Lucile Harrison Richie, age 90, born April 9, 1935, to Pless and Ada Webb-Harrison, went home to her eternal rest on Monday, September 8, 2025. She was married to the late Levi Richie. She was the seventh of twelve children, the last living. She will be united with her brothers: Robert, James, LT, John Henry, Joe Cefus, and Nathanial; her sisters: Henrietta, Josephine, Elizabeth, Mamie, and Mozell; her sons, Tony and William; her daughter by marriage, Inez Woods; her grandson, Deon; and her great-grandson, Santerious.
She joined Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church at the age of fifteen, where she was baptised. She went to church wherever she lived after leaving Toccoa. She was an usher member, in the choir, and the last senior to ride the church van. She was a hard-working woman, typically working more than one job. She retired from Coats & Clark after 27 years. She went back to school and received her CNA license at Toccoa Nursing Center. She also provided private home cleaning and ironing services. Hobbies consist of sewing for family and friends, fishing, and cooking for loved ones. Her backyard was the playground for the neighborhood kids. She would never turn anyone away, making sure everyone was fed. She touched the hearts of many, and she was loved by many.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Minister Kenneth Watson (Brenda) of Knobnoster, Missouri, and three daughters, Kathy Pollard Warren of Winterville, GA, Karen Jones (Terence) of Jefferson, GA, and Sheila Davis of Toccoa, GA. She gained two daughters, Florann Hartman (Robert) of Decatur, GA, and Adelene Taylor of Leesburg, GA, and a son, Craig Richie of Roswell, GA, through marriage; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, James Richie; special friend, Regina Bonds; and neighbors, Mrs. Alice and Mitch Merritt.
