On the afternoon of July 19, 2023, the lord called his devoted son home. Ralph McCurdy is no longer struggling.
Born February 25, 1933 to Frank Roy McCurdy Sr. and Willie Mae Prather McCurdy. Ralph was one of 10 children to this union. His siblings are Annelle (Gresham) Moss, Deceased, Frank Roy Jr. (Hilda) Deceased, J.B. (Daisy) deceased, India deceased as a child, Montena Carney, Toccoa, GA, Harriett (Earnest) Maydin, Stockbridge, GA, Tyrone (Butch), JoAnn Crawford, Lorna (Herbert) Owens, Conzelle (Connie) McCurdy of California.
Following his education at Toccoa Colored School, Ralph married Mary Lee Pulliam McCurdy. To this union five children were born. Norma McCurdy of Buford, GA, Alvin and Calvin, both deceased, Dale (Pat) of Toccoa, GA and Ralph Edward of Toccoa, GA.
At an early age Ralph became employed with the Southern Company (GA Power) with the North GA Hydro Plant in Tallulah Falls for 34 years. He with his family of little ones lived at Tugalo Village for 16 years before moving back to Toccoa, GA. All the while he would travel with his family to Toccoa for Sunday Service at Trinity CME Church. It was during those years that Ralph was active with the hospitality committee, Usher Board, Trinity Men’s Choir as well as a lay leader for the Elberton District Conference for many years. He was a steward board member until his illness became too much to bear. Ralph was active in several community activities as well. He was an active member of the Ninth District Opportunity, Toccoa Improvement Association, Black Christian Mem of Stephens County and was a volunteer at Stephens County Hospital for several years.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mary Lee Pulliam McCurdy, daughters, Mona Lisa (Stephon) Banks of Toccoa, GA, Norma D. McCurdy of Buford, GA. Sons, Dale (Pat), and Edward McCurdy of Toccoa. 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Special friends, Mr. & Mrs. L.J. Harrison, Mentoria Sherfield, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends throughout the united states.
