Ray Clark Davis

Ray Clark Davis was born on March 31, 1951, to the late Thomas J. Davis
and Winnie Harris Davis in Clarkesville, Georgia.

Ray received his formal education from the Habersham County Public
School System. He gained life skills from his father, his mother, and his
uncle, Joe (Little Joe) Harris. His mother taught him to care for himself, to
wash and iron his own clothes, and to cook. And he was an excellent cook.
His father taught him the techniques of gardening and raising his own food.
His Uncle Joe taught him to hunt and fish.

Ray entered the workforce in his mid-teens to help his family financially.
During his lifetime, he worked at Chicopee Manufacturing and retired from
Nicolon Manufacturing Company.

In February 1973, Ray married Mae Hannah Richardson of Cleveland,
Georgia. For over 50 years they were family and friends. It was Mae on
whom he depended throughout his cancer journey for support, for
transportation to and from doctors’ appointments, and for care when he was
unable to care for himself.

Ray was an avid sports fan and an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting,
especially deer hunting during bow and gun season and fishing. He also
gained pleasure from watching various sports teams on television and being
the Monday Morning Commentator. An animal lover, throughout his life Ray
owned many dogs and a very patient horse.

On October 17, Ray passed out of the shadows into an eternal day. He will
be remembered by his family and friends and will continue to live through
the lives of his survivors which include Mae Richardson Davis, sons, Patrick
(Charlene) Davis, Chad (Gerri) Davis, and Dominique Davis and daughter
Sharon (Terry) Allen. His grandchildren are Olivia Davis, Rashad Davis,
Trenton Davis, Seth (Ashley) Jackson, Alexandra Hines, Ian Reese, DeVon
Reese, Zeddron Allen, Keyondra Gibson and Dee Allen. His great
grandchildren are Neaveh Larch, Kashon Gibson, Kalandra Gibson, and
Kariyah Gibson. His brothers are Tommy (Anita) Davis and Henry “Bo”
(Yolanda) Davis. His sister is Mary (Henry) Lockwood. Survivors also
included a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Davis (1992) and Winnie
Harris Davis (2002) and a sister, Allene Davis Jarrett (1999).

May he now rest in the peaceful arms of our Savior.
