Obituary

Rebecca Joyce Merriett was born on February 22,1957 in Martin Georgia to the late Howard and Lucille Merriett, who raised her with love, strength, and unwavering support. From a young age, she displayed a vibrant spirit, a kind heart, and a natural ability to bring joy to those around her.

Whether it was her infectious laughter, her caring nature, or her ability to turn any moment into a cherished memory, she was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She attended Franklin County High School, where she excelled academically and built lifelong friendships. A hardworking and ambitious individual, she worked for Fieldale Farms for 17 Yrs, AutoZone DC for 20 yrs, and later Retired from Bed Bath and Beyond where her dedication and passion left a lasting impact on colleagues and clients alike. She was deeply committed to her work, always striving to make a difference and leave a positive mark on the world.

Beyond her professional achievements, Rebecca was a woman of many passions. She found joy in her Broad River Church Family where she joined at an early age, supporting her grandkids, her nieces and nephews, spending time with her sisters. Most of all she loved to travel. She will forever be remembered for her telling you like it was attitude and her unconditional love.

More than anything, Rebecca was devoted to her family and friends. She cherished her relationships and was a source of strength, laughter, and unwavering support to those who needed her. Her love for her two children daughter Nicole Verdell of Peachtree Corners GA, Son Dishon Merriett of Peachtree Corners GA, two sisters Sandra (Steve) Pittman of Carnesville GA, Brenda Carter of Martin GA, four brothers Raymond (Ada) Merriett of Martin GA, Eddie (Marion) Merriett of Hartwell GA, Dennis (Mindy) Merriett of Martin GA and Anthony Merriett of Phoenix AZ , three grandsons Jeremiah Allen, Antwan Verdell, Victor Verdell, four grand-daughters Emoni Wilson, Shontavia Merriett, Ashanti Merriett, Jenivieve Breen, two great-grand-daughters Kynlee Cowan and Naomi Allen and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by five siblings, Martha Merriett, Eugene Merriett, Mamie McELveen, Herschel Merriett and Daniel Merritt Sr. ,whom we take comfort in knowing welcomed her with open arms. Though the pain of her loss is overwhelming, we find solace in the memories she left behind.

Her spirit will live on in every shared story, every echo of laughter, and every act of love inspired by her example. We will forever carry her in our hearts.
