Mr. Sherman Henry Lee Lacy was born on August 19, 1951, in Easley, South Carolina. At a young
age he moved to Chicago, Illinois. He attended Cooley High School in Chicago. Later he moved
to Toccoa, Georgia, and met the love of his life. He was employed at Stephens County
Recreation Department for many years, later retiring in 2013.
During his free time, he enjoyed playing the bass guitar, playing in several bands like the
Shadow-Fax, and also behind James Brown. “It was all about that bass, that bass, no treble!”
Mr. Lacy is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Lacy; father, Arbie Robinson; sister,
Emmenng Lacy, and brother Johnny.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 48 years, Cornelia Claudette Lacy; two daughters, Valveeta
McCord (Larry) and Clarissa Lacy; four sons, Randall Lacy, Mario Lacy, Shane Lacy, and
Christopher Lacy; fifteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces,
nephews, and cousins.
Tuesday, December 26, 2023, God called his son home. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Get your Rest. Job well- done!
