Mr. Woodrow Brown, Sr., a beloved member of his community and a dedicated professional, passed away on July 6, 2023, at his residence. He was born on June 14, 1931 in Boligee, AL to the late Steven and Moriah Brown. With a career spanning various roles, Mr. Brown made a profound impact on the lives of those around him. 

Born with an innate curiosity and a desire to serve others, Mr. Brown pursued a career as an Engineer and Electrician at Milliken. His technical expertise and unwavering work ethic earned him the admiration of his colleagues. Simultaneously, Mr. Brown embarked on another meaningful journey as a Bus Driver for the Stephens County Board of Education. He transported countless children safely to and from school, displaying an unwavering commitment to their well-being.

Reminiscing about their experiences with Mr. Brown aboard his school bus has touched the hearts of many. It became apparent that he deeply cared for the children he transported. His stern but kind demeanor fostered an environment of respect, ensuring that all students onboard adhered to positive values. Despite his no-nonsense approach to maintaining order, Mr. Brown's compassion shone through as he nurtured and uplifted those under his care.

Outside his professional life, Mr. Brown was known for his exceptional personality. He had a rare ability to make friends effortlessly; he rarely encountered strangers because he possessed an innate warmth that invited others into conversation. His great sense of humor would often bring smiles and laughter to those fortunate enough to share in his company.

Mr. Brown's military service is also worth noting, as it represents yet another facet of his life filled with dedication and commitment. He served both in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army with honor and integrity.

Mr. Brown was a dedicated member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Toccoa, GA where he served as a member of the Board of Deacons and the Trustee Board.

Mr. Woodrow Brown, Sr. was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Henry Mae Brown. Their love and companionship were a source of strength throughout their lives together. Mr. Brown leaves behind a legacy cherished by his surviving family: Mae E. Brown-Orr and Emmett Orr (daughter and son-in-law), Woodrow Brown Jr. and Donna Brown (son and daughter-in-law), granddaughter Valarie Brown-Stephens and her husband Stan, grandson Geoffrey Brown, and two great-grandsons, Dallas and Blake.

On July 14, 2023, friends and family will have the opportunity to pay their respects during a Visitation held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home located at 55 S. Alexander Street, Toccoa, GA, 30577. The following morning, on July 15, 2023, a Celebration of Life will take place at Friendship Baptist Church, located at 244 S Sage St, Toccoa, GA, 30577. The service is scheduled to start at 11:00 AM.

Mr. Woodrow Brown, Sr., touched the lives of those around him with kindness, dedication, and humor. His unwavering commitment to his profession and his community will forever be remembered. May his soul find eternal peace as we celebrate the remarkable life he lived.
